150 New Affordable Homes Coming to Coachella Valley for Farmworker Families & Seniors
March 5, 2026
JFM Villas Family Apartments and JFM Villas Senior Apartments have begun construction in the City of Indio on a total of 150 new affordable homes for farmworker families and seniors, marking an important milestone in the ongoing transformation of the former Fred Young Labor Camp. With 100 family units and 50 senior units now underway, the project represents years of collaboration, investment, and a shared commitment to honoring the people who sustain the region’s agricultural economy.
Supported by the County’s contribution of 25 Project‑Based Vouchers (PBVs) for each phase from the Housing Authority of the County of Riverside, the 50 PBVs are valued at approximately $23.9 million in rental subsidies for qualified participants over 20 years. JFM Villas joins Villa Hermosa I, II, and III in delivering dignified, stable housing for farmworker households in the area.
A powerful step forward for affordable housing and a brighter future for the families who make the Coachella Valley thrive.
