From Crisis to Community: Shady Lane Mobile Home Park Reopens with New Life
April 21, 2026
Imagine living in the heat of Coachella Valley’s 120 degree summers and telling your kids not to turn on the box fan in fear it might trip the power in your neighborhood. Or having to warn them not to play in puddles because septic tanks were constantly overflowing, bringing with them the stench and sickness of untreated wastewater. These were just a few of the realities families at Shady Lane Mobile Home Park faced before several partners came together to do something about it.
Shady Lane Mobile Home Park is now officially open, rebuilt, revitalized, and restored. Backed by nearly ten million dollars in investment and powered by collaboration between Riverside County, Caritas Corporation, the City of Coachella, the State of California, and local partners, this community now stands as a safe, modern, and dignified place to call home.
Thank you to Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez who played a key role in advancing the vision and effort that helped bring this project to completion!
