A Structured Approach to Safety and Community

Resident safety and neighborhood compatibility are central to the San Jacinto Valley Cottages model.

Prior to enrollment and move-in, prospective residents will participate in an established intake and screening process designed to assess eligibility, identify individual needs, review program expectations, and determine whether the setting and available services are appropriate for the individual. Residents will receive clear information regarding community expectations, available services, and their responsibilities as members of the community.

The program will also implement a Good Neighbor Policy establishing clear expectations for respectful conduct, consideration of neighbors, and responsible participation in the community. Residents will be expected to comply with applicable site rules and program requirements designed to maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and the surrounding neighborhood.

24-hour on-site staffing and security measures will provide an additional layer of support and safety. Staff will monitor the community, respond to concerns, coordinate services, and assist residents in maintaining housing stability and meeting program expectations.

Services Designed to Promote Long-Term Housing Stability

Residents will have access to individualized services focused on helping them transition to permanent housing and greater independence. Support may include:

•    Housing navigation and permanent housing placement
•    Individualized case management and housing stability planning
•    Benefits enrollment and income stabilization
•    Employment and workforce development
•    Health care, behavioral health and substance use service connections
•    Veteran-specific services and connections to VA resources
•    Life skills and financial literacy
•    Community-building and peer support

The goal is to help residents address barriers to housing stability while building the resources, connections, and skills needed to successfully transition to permanent housing.

Responding to a Regional Need

Older adults and Veterans can face significant barriers to housing stability, including fixed incomes, rising housing costs, limited affordable housing options, and gaps in access to supportive services.
San Jacinto Valley Cottages expands the region’s housing capacity while creating a specialized, community-based option for older adults and Veterans in Valle Vista and surrounding communities. By combining housing, services, safety measures, and clear community expectations in one setting, the project offers a comprehensive approach to housing stabilization.
