Murrieta Creek Trail Coordinated Homeless Response is Helping Families Stabilize

March 1, 2026

The Murrieta Creek Trail coordinated homeless response is helping parents find hope, children gain stability, and families rebuild their future. Guided by county leadership, including the steady support of Supervisor Chuck Washington, Riverside County has invested significant resources in this effort, including $12.6 million in state funding to clear unsafe encampments and house approximately 80 people who had been living along the trail. This work supports a broader countywide strategy that has contributed to a 19% reduction in unsheltered homelessness through aligned federal, state, and local action.

Progress along the trail is driven by the strong partnership within the Regional Homeless Alliance, which brings together the cities of Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, and Wildomar, alongside City Net Homeless Services, Project TOUCH, Riverside University Health System–Behavioral Health, Healthcare in Action, and the County of Riverside Office of Homeless Solutions. Their coordinated approach ensures that individuals and families receive the housing, health, and supportive services needed to achieve long‑term stability.

One especially moving example of this impact is Mitch’s story. As a single father raising two young children, his journey toward safety, stability, and hope reflects the life‑changing results taking place along the trail. Watch as Mitch shares his powerful and deeply personal experience of overcoming homelessness.
