December 19, 2025

Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health and the County of Riverside Housing and Workforce Solutions, in partnership with community organizations, observed National Homeless Person’s Memorial Day in Hemet and Riverside.

The annual events honored the lives of individuals who passed away while experiencing homelessness. It served as both a solemn remembrance and a resource fair, offering essential support to some of the county’s most vulnerable residents.

During the Riverside event, 29 veterans were connected to housing assistance through the VA Loma Linda and County Housing Authority HUD–Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD‑VASH) program. Many others accessed critical services aimed at helping individuals regain stability.

Over the past year, Riverside County has helped more than 9,151 people secure stable housing and supported an additional 21,975 residents through the County’s system of care. The gathering was a powerful reminder of the work that remains and the importance of compassion within our community.
